About Dr. Austin

Dr. Ray Austin is a clinical psychologist licensed to practice psychology in the state of Texas. He earned his bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX and his graduate degree in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Dr. Austin completed an American Psychological Association approved pre-doctoral psychology internship at the Children’s Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. Upon graduation, he then completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology through the Biscayne Rehabilitation Institute and the University of Miami Medical School.

Prior to returning to Texas, Dr. Austin was director of child and adult services for an outpatient rehabilitation center in Florida. He worked with patients with traumatic brain injury, children with autistic spectrum disorders and other developmentally challenged patients.


Dr. Austin specializes in neuropsychological testing, individual therapy, parent training, and behavior management. He is a board certified behavior analyst.

Dr Austin provides evaluations and therapy for children, adolescents and young adults (Ages 2 – 17) with developmental disabilities and related conditions including:

·         Pervasive Developmental Disorders (Autism, Asperger’s Disorder)

·         Behavior Disorders

·         Learning Disabilities

What to expect with Dr. Austin:

The first step involves a brief consultation via phone so you can discuss your concerns and problems with Dr. Austin. At this point Dr. Austin will offer you an appointment or make a referral to another qualified mental health professional if needed.

Prior to your first session, you will need to download and complete several forms. These forms are accessible from the “Forms” page. There is also an additional form that Dr. Austin will mail to you after the brief telephone consultation. Please complete and mail all of the forms before you come for the first session. Please send/bring copies of any past medical, rehabilitation (speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy) educational and psychological evaluations your child has received.
